FOIA Request to Kendall County Sheriff regarding number of applications and tracking on August 14, 2025.

The Kendall County Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. The request seeks detailed records on the number of job applications received by the department, broken down by week, month, or year. Additionally, the request asks for information on which department or individual is responsible for tracking these application numbers.

The FOIA request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The media organization has requested that the information be provided in an electronic format to facilitate ease of access and analysis. As part of their professional duties in reporting news to the public and ensuring governmental transparency, they have also requested a fee waiver typically granted to media professionals.

The requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at this link.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
