State Rep. Jed Davis (R-Newark) said “Gov. J.B. Pritkzer’s (D) use of the term “Nazis” to describe supporters of President Donald Trump (R) was reckless and divisive.”
“The most alarming part of (Pritzker’s) address wasn’t just the bad math, it was the outright dangerous rhetoric,” said Davis. “The Governor comparing everyday Americans concerned about border security to Nazis is appalling.”
“It’s reckless, divisive, and frankly beneath the office he holds,” said Davis. “Illinoisans deserve better.”
“I do not invoke the specter of Nazis lightly… I’m watching with a foreboding dread what is happening in our country right now,” said Pritzker in his State of the State Address on Feb. 19.
State Rep. John Cabello (R-Machesney Park) said Pritzker’s comments were “disgusting,” reported Fox32Chicago, and State Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) said the governor’s comments “will only incite the violence he claims to condemn.”
Davis serves as the State Representative for Illinois’ 75th District, having assumed office on January 11, 2023. Born and raised in Lisbon, Illinois, he attended Lisbon Grade School and Newark Community High School. Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University in 2000. Professionally, he has held roles such as Regional Sales Manager at National Oilwell Varco and Vice President of Engineering and Development at Sisk Companies. His public service includes positions as Chair of the Zoning and Planning Commission and Trustee of the Village Board in Newark, as well as Board President of Parkview Christian Academy in Yorkville. Davis resides in Newark with his wife, Melissa, and their four children, and they are also active as foster parents. In the Illinois House, he serves on committees including Mental Health and Addiction, and Transportation: Regulation, Roads, and Bridges. Davis is a member of the Illinois Freedom Caucus, a group of Republican legislators.
