Village of Newark Board met July 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Present: Jim D., Tracy S., Jed D(7:03), Bernie B., Dick S, Joe S. and Darald N.

Meeting was called to order by Jim Davis at 7:00 pm followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

• Minutes from the June meeting were presented to the Trustees. Tracy made the motion to accept the minutes. Motion was seconded by Darald. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie

• Bills were presented for payment. Darald made the motion to pay the bills. Joe seconded the motion. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie

• Treasure Report was presented, Darald made the motion to accept the monthly report, seconded by Dick. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie

• Old Business:

• Police: None

• Kencom: Had a meeting.

• EEI: John reported that we need to pass a Supplemental Resolution for the MFT funds at a cost of $5287.70. Darald moved and Bernie seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie. John reported on the drainage issue at the High School. John reported on the Johnson St storm sewer improvements. Televise has been done and a preliminary estimates and plan were presented to the board. Cost is estimated at $23046.00. John will gather bids for the work. John reported that they will have someone at his office type up the revised policy manual. John reported theat they are also looking for someone to repair the school warning lights on Rt. 71.

• Sirens: Joe reported that he found a replacement siren for $9000 with motor but does not include install. Joe thought the total cost would be $15 to 20,000. Joe will talk to the fire dept and see if they would share the cost.

• New Business

• Appointments: Jim made Don Marvin to the Zoning Board. Tracy motioned to accept the appointment, Joe seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie

• Jim discussed the village picnic and will check with the Library. Aug 20 from 1 to 3 is the tentative date.

• Tracy feels that the Village should have an official Facebook page to help inform the public better. Discussion followed.

• Don Carlson informed the board of some issues with his water lines after the tower was offline. Don stated that he found gravel and sand in his water heater and has spent $1600 for repairs. John will look into this issue.

• Rich Smith reported that the village is taking care of more and more properties and asked what can be done. He also reported that the old buildings are falling apart.

• Joe made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss property and personnel. Tracy seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie. Time entered into session 8:30 pm

• Tracy made a motion to come out of executive session and Joe seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie Time 9:06pm

• Tracy and Jim will serve on the personnel committee.

• Joe made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Tracy seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Darald, Dick, Joe, Tracy, Jed and Bernie.

Adjourned at 9:09 pm
