Oswego pastor gives opening day prayer in U.S. Capitol

Having an old friend from Oswego on the House floor was a blessing for U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) -- literally.

Hultgren welcomed the Rev. Scott Poling from Harvest New Beginnings Church in Oswego to the Capitol on July 28, according to Hultgren's website. Poling gave the opening day prayer before legislative proceedings began.

“Pastor Scott, we praise God for how your ministry has affected so many, and our legislative work is blessed by your prayers over us today,” Hultgren said, according to a video on his website.

Hultgren lauded Poling, who has been at the Oswego church for more than 20 years, for his work in international ministry as well as his care and concern for others. Hultgren and his family attend the church, Hultgren said.

Poling prayed for the representatives to have strength and wisdom in the decisions they make.

Harvest New Beginnings Church is located at 5315 Douglas Road in Oswego.

The 14th District includes parts of Kendall County in addition to some of DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.
