Councilman Hug stated the Public Service Committee met yesterday at 4:30 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room and reviewed the contracts, change orders, pay estimates, final payments, ordinances and resolutions and found them all to be in order and recommended their approval. He stated they also discussed at length Council Memo #423-17: Request for Authorization to Award the Solid Waste Contract Starting in January 2018, Council Memo #425-17: Request for Authorization to Award a Contract for the City-Wide Newsletter, and Council Memo #405-17: Request for Authorization to Negotiate a Contract for Debt Collection Services.
B. Land Use & Legislative
Councilman Morris stated the Land Use & Legislative Committee met on July 19, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. to discuss regulations and restrictions on the sale of cats and dogs; farm stand regulations; numerous amendments to City ordinances; fine consolidation; and a presentation for a Love's truck stop at Briggs Street and Interstate 80.
Acting Corporation Counsel gave a brief overview of the changes to City ordinances.

In response to Councilwoman Gavin’s question, City Clerk Christa Desiderio stated staff is currently working to establish a business directory.
In response to Councilwoman Quillman’s question, Mr. Jones discussed the proposed redevelopment of the St. Mary's Church property.
Mayor O'Dekirk asked that the Finance Committee review the affects the State of Illinois' budget will have on the City's budget, including the impact to the school systems.
XIV. Public Comments:
Resident Jeff Castelli of Leland Hills Subdivision in Channahon addressed the Mayor and Council concerning a series of four explosions felt at his residence Friday, July 28, 2017 at approximately 3:15 p.m.
XV. Mayor And Council Comments:
Councilman Dickinson thanked the Public Works Department for repairing the fence along Hickory Creek and trimming parkway trees.
Councilwoman Gavin thanked the Finance Department for their work on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. She also thanked Police Chief Benton for the Police Department's work at PACT Camp and Gary Cheney with ShareFest for their partnership giving children the opportunity to attend Tech Camp at Joliet Junior College.
