Leads/City of Joliet Historic Preservation Commission Committee of the Whole Board met Aug. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1. CALL TO ORDER

2. DECLARATION OF QUORUM

PRESENT: Quinn Adamowski, Paul Burden, Gerri Eck, Michael Grady, Bill Habiger, Candace Johnson, Sharon Merwin, Sara Stovall, Greg Peerbolte.

ABSENT: Kevin Heinemann.

3. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC & STAFF

None.

4. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES

a. July 26, 2017 COW Workshop Minutes

JHPC COW July Minutes

Motion to approve minutes from the July 26, 2017 meeting was made by Paul Burden.

Motion seconded by Bill Habiger.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Paul Burden, Gerri Eck, Michael Grady, Bill Habiger, Candace Johnson, Sharon Merwin, Sara Stovall.

NAYS: None.

5. PUBLIC AWARENESS COMMITTEE DISCUSSION

a. Review process and procedures for the Annual JHPC Preservation Award

Ms. Armington reviewed the process of the annual historic preservation award with the Committee.

At the last meeting they discussed how many awards they would be giving and what categories they would have. One member suggested if they were going to have the application the categories should be listed on it. There was further discussion on what should appear on the application.

After deciding that categories should be listed on the application the Committee members decided to go back to the original plan and not list the categories and keep the application general.

Ms. Armington said she will work with the media specialist at City Hall with press releases going out when there are applications available. She said she will also look into advertising in the newsletter as well as the water bills.

b. Discuss future advocacy and outreach events

None.

7. DISTRICT COMMITTEE DISCUSSION

None.

8. OLD BUSINESS

a. Discussion of PowerPoint Presentation

Ms. Armington said she looked at the PowerPoint presentation and had a few questions for Ms. Merwin. She wanted to know who the audience would be. Ms. Merwin said the audience can be neighborhood groups and HOA's

Ms. Armington suggested the presentation be moved to the full meeting. It will be put under Old Business.

9. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS

None.

10. ADJOURNMENT

Motion to adjourn was made by Bill Habiger.

Motion seconded by Michael Grady.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Quinn Adamowski, Paul Burden, Gerri Eck, Michael Grady, Bill Habiger,

Candace Johnson, Sharon Merwin, Sara Stovall, Greg Peerbolte.

NAYS: None.
