Village of Oswego issued the following announcement on July 19.
OsweGROW, a partnership between the Village of Oswego, the Oswego Public Library District, and SCORE Fox Valley, is offering a free workshop for Oswego small businesses and entrepreneurs on how to maximize tax deductions and survive an IRS audit.
The next free workshop, Top Five Tax Deductions for Small Businesses, will take place on Thursday, July 19 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Oswego Public Library District’s Oswego Campus.
People attempt to deduct all kinds of business expenses on their small business tax returns, including the costs of their cell phone, home office, vacations, sports tickets, and lavish meals. But will these deductions withstand a severe tax audit?
Presenter Harry Eng, CPA, is an enrolled agent, a federally-authorized tax practitioner authorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service, and will explain which types of expenses are authorized deductions and how to do it correctly.
Registration is not required, but registering for this event will connect attendees to several other resources available to small business owners and entrepreneurs through SCORE Fox Valley. Registration is available at https://foxvalley.score.org/event/top-5-tax-deductions-small-business
Whether you take occasional freelance gigs or run an established small business, this workshop is designed to help you keep more of your hard-earned money.
