Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.
Yorkville’s Chapel on the Green will be holding a ribbon cutting showcasing the new building’s entrance and sidewalk ramp on Thursday, October 4 at 4pm.
The 1855 building in on the National Register of History Places in the United States. The enlarged entrance and wheelchair ramp leading from the parking area offers a much improved access to the building.
The Chapel on the Green is a not for profit organization that was formed after the Yorkville Congregational Church built a new facility in Countryside. The Chapel hosts weddings and other ceremonies, community events, concerts, and other activities.
Following the ribbon cutting the building will be open for tours from 4-7pm. Music and refreshments will also be available in the lower level, the Foxes Lair, (formerly the YHS Teen Club).
