City of Plano Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 15.
On November 1st and 8th , members of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Correction Divisions along with the Yorkville Police Department, Plano Police Department, Bristol/Kendall Fire, Kendall County Auxiliary, Kendall County States Attorneys, and Kendall County Emergency Management Agency conducted training involving evidence recovery techniques, scene photography, biological evidence collection, and impression evidence collection. The training consisted of classroom activities and instruction which concluded with a large scale practical scenario. The scenario utilized role players and simulated crime scenes to bring the classroom training to real life applications. Deputies and Police Officers that participated were able to train with and utilize available local resources and equipment during the scenarios to ensure proficiency if they were called upon for real world use.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is committed to deliver exceptional law enforcement training to both sworn and professional staff to prepare them for exemplary service to the communities we serve. The training division will constantly strive to create an atmosphere conducive to the learning process and utilize alternative methods to enhance deputy’s skills and professionalism in law enforcement. The effect of this type of live scenario based training for deputies and police officers is especially important because it helps officers to override natural inclinations, biases, or reservations they could encounter while in the performance of their duty. Training goes hand in hand with formal education and how they affect policing.
Sheriff Dwight Baird said, “This training is critical because it brings us together with our civilian counterparts in a training environment where we can practice our coordinated responses to a number of situations that we could find ourselves having to respond to together in a real world situation. It builds relationships and familiarizes us with what each agency can offer to a particular situation. Whenever you can bring those agencies together in this type of training environment the results are immeasurable.”
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Kendall County Forest Preserve District for allowing the use of Meadowhawk Lodge and the Moonseed Bunkhouse located at the Hoover Forest Preserve.
