Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 18.
Happy spring! What a great time to get ready for some gardening.
The Conservation Foundation encourages gardeners to plant native plants for their beauty and function in the home landscape.
Their deep roots help infiltrate rain where it falls and help to improve soil conditions. They also provide much needed wildlife habitats.
It is a cornerstone of the TCF “Conservation at Home” program.
However, we are often asked:
“Where can I buy native plants locally?”
We are happy this year to again have available a listing of local groups and businesses that serve Kendall County with native plants to sell. The availability at each location varies and some require pre-ordering. It is advisable to ask the source of the plant material and whether or not it is a cultivar or pure native variety.
To obtain a list of the local plant sources, click here
or phone 630-553-0687 x204.
The group sales typically are held in the spring, so don’t delay. The list cannot be guaranteed to be
all-inclusive. For details about being a part of “Conservation at Home” or other information,
