Plano Area Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 9.
Important road alert for those in the 10th and Jupiter area today.
UPDATE (515pm): Road closures will be opened shortly. One lane of northbound Jupiter will remain closed as crews continue work.
UPDATE (455pm): Leak has been stopped. Employees in surrounding businesses are being allowed to occupy their buildings. Roads will remain closed for a brief time longer as crews continue their work.
UPDATE (2:40pm): Both Plano Fire-Rescue and Atmos Energy crews remain onscene of the gas leak. Atmos is estimating that the road closures may remain in effect through most of rush hour this evening. As a reminder:
Southbound Jupiter is closed at 14th
Northbouth Jupiter is closed at Plano Pkwy
Westbound Technology is closed at Resource Dr
Eastbound 10th is closed at Industrial.
Alternate routes for north/south are N Ave to the west, Shiloh to the east; and east/west routes are 14th St the the north and Plano Pkwy to the south.
Please continue to avoid the area.
UPDATE (12:04pm): The gas leak was caused by damage done by a construction crew working in the area. Atmos Energy advises that they expect traffic to be impacted in the area for an extended time.
Plano Fire crews and Atmos Energy are onscene of a significant gas leak in the area of 10th and Jupiter. All directions of 10th and Jupiter are closed. Avoid the area while repairs are being made.
