CITY OF PLANO: 3rd Annual “Plano-Bologna-Sandwich Day”

Sandwich

City of Plano issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.

The public is invited to attend the 3rd Annual “Plano-Bologna-Sandwich Day” event, on Thursday, October 24th, during the observation of “National Bologna Day.”

Our local celebration will take place outdoors, weather permitting, at the corner of Route#34 and Tara Street, near the Montcler Hotel (formerly Timber Creek Inn), between Plano and Sandwich. Events begin at 4pm, with official opening ceremonies at 5pm and LIVE music from the “Baloney Brothers Band” from Joliet. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors at the Montcler Hotel.

This event doubles as a food drive to both stock our local pantries serving Plano and Sandwich, but to also bring about awareness of hunger. If you bring any non-perishable food items you will get a ticket for your very own Bologna Sandwich, prepared by Ed Schleining’s Wurst Kitchen, of Aurora, or you can pay a $5 donation that goes to the food pantries in lieu of the food donation.

This year will feature the “World’s Shortest Marathon,” the.005K Fun Run (16 feet), a “That’s Baloney!” trivia contest, and much more!

This year, our “Co-Mayors” of Bologna, Illinois will be Sandwich and Plano Police Chiefs, Jim Bianchi and Jonathon Whowell! We hope to see you there on October 24th
