Village of Newark Village Board met Sept. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Jim Davis followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

• Minutes from the Aug meeting were presented to the Trustees. Tracy made the motion to accept the minutes.

Motion was seconded by Joe. Motion passed. Aye votes: Joe, Darald, Tracy, Gary and Bernie.

• Bills were presented for payment. Tracy made the motion to pay the bills. Joe seconded the motion. Motion passed. Aye votes: Joe, Darald, Tracy, Gary and Bernie.

• Treasurer Report was presented, Darald made the motion to accept the monthly report, seconded by Joe. Motion passed. Aye votes: Joe, Darald, Tracy, Gary and Bernie.

• Police: Reviewed monthly stats and reported on a concerned citizens letter.

• Cliff: Reported on the issue with IDOT removing the crosswalk signs on Rt. 71, working with North Central Illinois

Council of Governments on grants, Building permit was issued.

Old Business:

• Kencom: No Meeting

• EEI: John reported that Main street project is almost completed. Flow meter data has been helpful from the I Track

Meters that have been placed around town.

• Water tower: No report

• Darald mentioned that he did not get a letter about the electrical aggregation and the chance to opt in or out of the program. Darald also stated that a few others did not get a letter. Cliff will follow up.

• Insurance: Tracy is waiting for proposals

New Business

• Senior Center: Tracy requested a no Liability clause be added to the Lease, Boyd presented the lease to the Trustees. Discussion followed about the term of the lease for the automatic renewal. Tracy moved to approve the lease; Gary seconded. Motion passed. Aye votes: Joe, Darald, Tracy, Gary and Bernie.

• Recreational Marijuana: Jim presented information to the trustees. Discussion about the process. Boyd explained about the zoning issues. No action taken by the board this month. Asked to place on agenda for Oct.

• Audit: No report

• Public Comment: David Thompson reported about issues with the Fire Department and the increasing costs to run an ambulance crew and training. Davis stated that they are looking at different funding options including a referendum to increase taxes.

• Joe motioned to adjourn the meeting. Bernie seconded the motion. Motion passed. Aye votes: Joe, Darald, Tracy, Gary and Bernie.
