State Rep. Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) is urging senior citizens in his district to heed stay-at-home orders as they are the most vulnerable to the coronavirus.

Batinick also launched a program called Helping Hands to run any errands for seniors to help them stay home and not be exposed to COVID-19.

Coronavirus cases in Illinois continue to climb and the Chicago Tribune reported on April 3 that two weeks into Gov. J.B. Pritzker's stay-at-home order the death rose by 16 and an additional 715 positive cases of coronavirus.

“The coronavirus is continuing to spread and we need everyone to be taking this threat seriously—especially our seniors because they are at an incredible risk,” Batinick said in a press release. “We are all in this together and we need to hold each other accountable.  I want neighbors to check on neighbors.  I want seniors to be able to ask for help, which is what my office is here for.”

Seniors who seek assistance from Helping Hands are encouraged to call Batinick’s office at (815) 254-0000. Any health volunteers are also encouraged to call the lawmaker's office.
