The Kendall County Health Department has been selected to receive CARES Act and supplemental funding.
According to the Kendall Chronicle, the health department was selected to receive $47,270 and an additional $67,393. The funding will be used to supplement its emergency food and shelter programs throughout the county.
The National Board, which was given the responsibility of determining how to direct the money to the nation’s neediest areas, selected Kendall County. The distribution of the funds will be determined by a local board.
As of June 7, Illinois reported 127,757 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including 5,904 deaths. Kendall County has 846 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Groups and agencies that receive the federal aid have several requirements that they must meet, including being nonprofits or governmental agencies; having an accounting system; being nondiscriminatory; already having been successful in delivering food and shelter in emergency capacity; and having a voluntary board if they are a private volunteer organization.
