AUX SABLE MIDDLE SCHOOL: All District 202 Schools Will Now Offer A Curbside Library Book Pick Up

Library

Aux Sable Middle School issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.

District 202 schools began the 2020-21 school year with remote learning, but that has not stopped district media specialists from finding a way to get books into students’ hands.

All District 202 schools will now offer a curbside library book pick up for students during remote learning.

It is important for kids to continue reading during remote learning, said Eichelberger Elementary School Learning Resource Director Sharon Mix.

“In my opinion getting books into kid’s hands is critical for their excitement and understanding of the tools and resources books offer for research or reading for pleasure,” Mix said.

District media specialists hope the curbside pick up helps students feel supported during remote learning, said John F. Kennedy Media Center Specialist Amanda Heyden.

“Books provide us with a sense of comfort,” Heyden said. “We want our students to feel that sense of comfort and know that they are always supported, even if we are not physically together.”

District 202 Students can place books on hold in their home school’s Destiny online catalog through Clever. Parents will receive an email alert when books are ready to be picked up.

For more information on the curbside library book pick up, contact the student’s home school.
