City of Plano issued the following announcement on Jan. 22.
In recognition of the economic hardships experienced by our students and taxpayers, Waubonsee recently announced our Pandemic Relief Plan.
The Waubonsee Pandemic Relief Plan supports students with nearly $3 million in student support initiatives including a Spring Forward Scholarship of $40/credit hour for all enrolled students, a Pandemic Relief Scholarship, and an Extended Payment Plan option as well as debt forgiveness is some instances.
The plan also provides economic relief to district taxpayers through refinancing college debt to leverage historically low interest rates while also abating some or all of the bond and interest levy for calendar year 2020. This results in approximately $9 million in savings in 2021
