City of Plano City Council met Dec. 21

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Special meeting of the Plano City Council was called to order by Mayor Robert A. Hausler. The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Roll Call:

Steve DeBolt Present John Fawver Present Ben Eaton Absent Jamal Williams Present Tommy Johns Present Barb Nadeau Present Scott Mulliner Present Mike Rennels Present There was a quorum.

MINUTES:

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Rennels, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on December 14, 2020.

A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. Motion carried.

AGENDA:

A motion was made by Alderman Nadeau, seconded by Alderman Mulliner, to approve the agenda for the special meeting of December 21, 2020. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. Motion carried.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:

Guests and members of the press were welcomed by Mayor Hausler.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS:

Jenny Jackson commented that there was a stop sign down at Kristen and Hoffman.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Bob Hausler

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Nadeau, to authorize the Mayor to sign a payroll deduction agreement and application for group term life insurance with Liberty National Life Insurance Co.

Roll Call:

Voting “Aye”: Fawver, Nadeau, Johns, Mulliner, Rennels, DeBolt, Williams

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Eaton

Motion passed.

The Mayor stated that there is still one Alderman who has not finished the sexual harassment training that is required by January 1, 2021. Alderman Williams has been in charge of making sure employees take the training; he will contact the Alderman and report back to the Mayor.

The Mayor stated that the Kendall County Health Department has a schedule for COVID vaccinations on their website.

ADMINISTRATIVE/HEALTH & SAFETY: Alderman Mulliner

A motion was made by Alderman Mulliner, seconded by Alderman Williams, to approve the purchase of 12 laptops from Reliable in the amount of $ 20,899.57.

Voting “Aye”: Fawver, Rennels, Williams

Voting “Nay”: DeBolt, Johns, Mulliner, Nadeau

Motion defeated.

Alderman DeBolt commented that he had a committee meeting on December 16, 2020 and discussed a fence issue at 719 S. Ben St. and the committee recommended moving forward with legal action. This will be discussed at the next COW meeting.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS:

Matt Jackson commented that he liked that the laptop purchase was pushed back, however, he is concerned that the issue will die. He also commented that the City wastes paper, we are not green, but we make our energy companies be green. We need to move into the 21st century.

CLOSED SESSION:

A motion was made by Alderman Nadeau, seconded by Alderman Rennels, to go into closed session. Attorney Grant stated that we were going into closed session under Section 2C2 to discuss collective bargaining.

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Eaton

Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Nadeau, seconded by Alderman Rennels, to return to open session. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. Motion carried.

Attorney Grant commented that the Council went into closed session to discuss collective bargaining. No action was taken.

ADJOURNMENT:

A motion was made by Alderman Nadeau, seconded by Alderman Mulliner, to adjourn. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. Motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm.
