City of Plano City Council Met Jan. 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Plano City Council was called to order by Mayor Robert A. Hausler. The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

There was a quorum.

MINUTES:

A motion was made by Alderman Nadeau, seconded by Alderman Rennels, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on January 11, 2021.

Voting “Aye”: Fawver, Nadeau, Johns, Mulliner, Rennels, DeBolt, Williams

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Eaton

Motion passed.

AGENDA:

A motion was made by Alderman Johns, seconded by Alderman Williams, to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of January 25, 2021.

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Eaton

Motion passed.

WARRANTS:

A motion was made by Alderman Fawver, seconded by Alderman Williams, to accept the report of the Finance Committee and that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated January 25, 2021 in the amount of $ 200,178.43.

Voting “Nay”:

Motion passed.

WAGE REPORT:

A motion was made by Alderman Fawver, seconded by Alderman Williams to approve the FY ’21 November wage report in the amount of $ 338,730.43.

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Eaton

Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Fawver, seconded by Alderman Rennels, to approve the FY ’21 December wage report in the amount of $ 292,554.67.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:

Guests and members of the press were welcomed by Mayor Hausler.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: None

MAYOR’S REPORT: Bob Hausler

Mayor Hausler reported on SB 1198 as requested by Alderman Fawver. IML opposed the portion of the bill that would burden businesses, they were in favor of the online sales tax portion. The bill did not pass.

The Mayor thanked everybody who helped, donated and participated in the 8th annual Frabill Ice Fishing event. A total of $ 3,310.00 was collected from ticket sales.

PLANO AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Deana Lanham - Absent

CITY ATTORNEY: Tom Grant – Nothing to report

CITY CLERK: Kathleen Miller

The Sales and related taxes for November 2020 were $168,714.53; this is up $12,149.16 from the same time last year.

MFT allotment and transactions for December, 2020; current unobligated balance is $1,334,778.67. 

CITY TREASURER: Zoila Gomez – Nothing to report

POLICE CHIEF’S REPORT: Chief Whowell – Absent – Lt. Allison present

Lt. Allison informed the Council that the PD was awarded a grant from Burlington Northern railroad in the amount of $ 10,000.00 to be used on squads or squad equipment.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER: Nate Bullard – Absent – Nothing to report 

BUILDING, PLANNING & ZONING: Tom Karpus

Tom informed the Council that the final occupancy inspection will take place tomorrow at Dominos. 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ADMINISTRATIVE/HEALTH & SAFETY: Alderman Mulliner – Nothing to report

BUILDINGS, GROUNDS AND ZONING: Alderman DeBolt

Alderman DeBolt had a meeting January 14, 2021 at 6:00 pm and discussed the Reliable and Mechanical contracts. A contract was not presented so this will go back to committee. 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Alderman Rennels

Alderman Rennels had a meeting January 21, 2021 at 6:00 PM. PEDCO Director, Beth Goncher gave a presentation to the committee. The CGI Banner program was discussed.

FINANCE: Alderman Fawver

The committee met this evening and discussed the vendor run, 2 wage reports, a credit card request and banking changes. A meeting was called for February 8, 2021 at 5:30 pm. PARKS: Alderman Johns

Alderman Johns has been receiving requests for reservations for the ball parks. He has been working on the application for the dog park that is due in May. A meeting was called for February 4, 2021 at 5:30 pm to discuss disc golf, summer help and the dog park.

PERSONNEL & INSURANCE: Alderman Williams

Alderman Williams met on January 21, 2021; Juneteenth, non-union wages and MLK Day were discussed. There will be another meeting January 26, 2021 at 5:00 PM.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Nadeau

Alderman Nadeau had a meeting on January 19, 2021 and discussed Holiday lighting, this will be discussed further at the COW meeting this evening. Alderman Nadeau also commented on what a great event the Frabill Ice Fishing event was.

STREETS & UTILITIES: Alderman Eaton – Absent – Alderman Johns reported

Alderman Johns reported that the committee had a meeting on January 6, 2021 and discussed monthly billing, the rate study, one way on Hugh St.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: NONE

CLOSED SESSION: NONE

ADJOURNMENT:

A motion was made by Alderman DeBolt, seconded by Alderman Williams, to adjourn. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. Motion passed.

The meeting adjourned at 6:24 pm.
