Kendall County Republican Party Chairman James Marter sighs he’s heard it all before with U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Rockford).
“Back in that first campaign in 2018, we released a report about some information that was circulating about a different woman and a different circumstance,” Marter, who is set to take on Kinzinger again in 2022, told the Kendall County Times. “We asked, 'would you address it?'”
Fast forward to today and Kinzinger finds himself again in a similar situation after a Russian immigrant beauty queen recently stepped forward to claim she was offered an internship with his office just before engaging in a four-month relationship with him roughly three years ago.
Over that time, Olga Kambod told the National File she sent racy photos to the lawmaker at his request. She says she provided reporters with “extensive communications” that back up her claims of the relationship.
According to the National File, the exchanges between Kambod and an old phone number once linked to Kinzinger were “sexually charged and volatile text massages.”
Kambod also provided emails from Kinzinger’s congressional staff discussing what were to be her internship duties.
“It’s a she-said type of thing, and maybe no story, but the congressman should clear the air if that’s the case and put it to bed,” Marter added. “If there is something there, he should address it properly. He’s the one out there telling others, in particular many Republicans, we’re going to hold you to (a) high standard. If he’s going to be out there accusing other people, he should follow that same standard.”
Kambod told the National File her relationship with Kinzinger began to deteriorate after he became enraged when she accused him of suffering from “low levels of testosterone.”
She never served the internship and claims she was later the target of an “over-the-phone intimidation campaign” that included calls from someone claiming to be “Capitol Police.”
Kambod, who reportedly graduated from law school and worked for a criminal defense attorney, was recently in the news for surviving an acid attack that left her permanently scarred.
“He should address this to clear the air so we don’t have an albatross hanging over us this whole primary,” Marter added.
