City of Plano City Council met June 14.

The regular meeting of the Plano City Council was called to order by Mayor Michael Rennels in the Council Room at City Hall. The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

MINUTES:
A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on May 24, 2021. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.
AGENDA:
A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Nadeau, to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of June 14, 2021. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.
WARRANTS:
A motion was made by Alderman Swoboda, seconded by Alderman Fawver, to accept the report of the Finance Committee and that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated May 28, 2021 in the amount of $109,051.32.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS:
Mr. Keith Riddle commented on the re-branding. Mayor Rennels informed him that there would be a presentation at the COW meeting this evening, so Mr. Riddle said he would comment later.
MAYOR’S REPORT: Michael Rennels
Mayor Rennels was contacted by a resident regarding Moi Villa from the City’s Water Department, she had high usage and contacted the water department. Moi went to her house to check things, she said she was very impressed with his knowledge, he was very polite and explained things in a way she could easily understand.

Ordinance #2021-11 Lease purchase of a Toshiba copier
A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Williams, to approve an ordinance authorizing an agreement for the lease of certain property – One (1) Toshiba e-Studio 4518A digital system.

Ordinance #2021-12 Increase Class G-1

Last week Sgt. Smith and Sgt. Baxa successfully completed a 40 hour supervisor class through Northwestern.
The Special Olympics torch run is Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 9:00 am. The Plano leg will be from Waubonsee College to Rt. 47.
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER: D. Boyer, J. Beyer, K. Tisberger
A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman DeBolt, to approve advertising for a Street Department maintenance III employee. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed. A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman DeBolt, to approve a maintenance contract agreement with Mitsubishi Electric in the amount of $ 3,700.00.

Alderman Mulliner called a meeting for June 30, 2021 at 6:00 pm to discuss an EAP update.
BUILDINGS, GROUNDS AND ZONING: Alderman DeBolt
A meeting was held June 9, 2021 at 6:00 pm, the committee discussed adjudication process, burnt structures and building permit questions.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Alderman Fawver
Alderman Fawver’s committee met on June 3, 2021 and discussed branding. A new meeting was called for July 15, 2021 at 6:00 pm.
FINANCE: Alderman Swoboda
The next regular meeting will be on June 28, 2021 at 5:30 p.m.
PARKS: Alderman Johns
A motion was made by Alderman Johns, seconded by Alderman Nadeau, to approve the purchase of nine (9) golf baskets from Palos Sports in the amount of $ 4,001.97.

PERSONNEL & INSURANCE: Alderman Williams
Alderman Williams had a meeting on June 9, 2021 at 5:30 pm to discuss non-union wage increases, Barb Duffy increase and merit raise policy. The non-union wage increase and Barb Duffy increase will be discussed at COW this evening.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Nadeau
Alderman Nadeau had a meeting on June 10, 2021, they discussed a Back to School Bash, turkey trot and turkey bowl, Mexican Independence Day, Rockin’ Christmas, fireworks, Biz Bunny Hop and Treats on the Streets. Jamal Williams, Juneteenth organizer, asked the Committee to sponsor a banner in the amount of $ 1,000.00, this will be discussed at COW this evening. Jacob’s Well will be turning in two (2) requests for events. The Odd Fellows farmer’s market will start this Saturday and will continue on the 4th Saturday of each month through October.
STREETS & UTILITIES: Alderman Eaton
A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Fawver, to approve payment of $ 3,850.00 to Michelle Walz for sewer back-up cleaning.
