ABATE of IL, Inc. held their legislative day on Wednesday, March 23, at the Capitol Building in Springfield.  Open Roads ABATE members, along with many other ABATE of Illinois members, met with members of the House and Senate in person over the course of the day and evening.   Our reps heard our ideas, concerns, and issues regarding profiling, autonomous vehicles, E15 fuels, off-roads vehicles, and distracted drivers.  ABATE members from the state of Illinois filled a room at the Capitol while bills were being discussed.  Thanks to ABATE members who attended Legislative Day, Senate Bill 2940 gained 15 additional sponsors and will be heard in the House this week.  Senate Bill 2940 makes sure motorcycles are treated equally when planning Illinois transportation future.  In September, Governor Pritzker’s administration argued to exclude motorcycles from electric vehicle planning and incentive.
Pictured are Starved Rock and Open Roads Chapter members with David Welter, Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 75th district (parts of Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, and Will Counties) during ABATE of Illinois, Inc. Legislative Day. Thanks to all the members who gave up their day to make the ABATE Legislative Day a great success.  Pictured are Sam Mataya (Open Roads ABATE), Representative David Welter, Shane Bice (Starved Rock ABATE), and Dan Kleckner (Starved Rock ABATE).
