Share the trails! In summer, we see the heaviest use of the Park District’s 20+ miles of biking and hiking trails. Following these basic courtesy rules ensures an enjoyable time for all trail users:
- Walk, run, skate and bike on the right
- Try not to walk more than two abreast
- Walk, run, skate or ride single file when path is in heavy use
- Pass on the left
- Ring a bell or use a verbal warning when passing
- Bicyclists should always ride under control and watch their speed
- Bikers and skaters must yield to walkers; pedestrians have the right-of-way
- Obey all posted signs
- Dog owners, please clean up after your pets
