Jed Davis has claimed victory against Democrat opponent Heidi Henry.

“A big heartfelt thanks from my family,” David wrote on Facebook. “I look forward to representing you in Springfield!”

The Chicago Sun-Times reported both Democrats and Republicans did well in the past election.

Unofficial results from around 11 p.m. on election day showed Republican Davis leading Democrat opponent Heidi Henry by 21,690 votes to 14,046 votes, Shaw Local reported.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported both parties had candidates who ran uncontested.

Davis defeated incumbent David Welter in the June Republican primary for Illinois' 75th House district, according to Ballotpedia. Davis won 6,393 votes compared to Welter's 5,342 votes.

Chicago Sun-Times also reported Kwame Raoul defeated Thomas DeVore during the midterm election. Raoul garnered 53.7% of the votes, compared to DeVore’s 44.1%.

Davis is a trustee of the village of Newark and also serves as board president of Parkview Christian Academy, which is located in Yorkville, according to Shaw Local. The newly redrawn 75th district includes most of Kendall County, as well as portions of Grundy, La Salle, and DeKalb counties.

In other election news, Incumbent Governor J.B. Pritzker defeated opponent Darren Bailey, Chicago Sun-Times reported. Chicago Sun-Times reported Gov. Pritzker garnered approximately 53.9% of the votes, compared to Bailey’s 43.3%.

"Let me be even clearer: Anyone who thinks that they can come into this state and try to force some right-wing MAGA war on a woman's body, you will never get an inch of Illinois," Pritzker said, ABC Chicago reported.

Davis' priorities include protecting parental rights and addressing rising crime, according to his website. Davis has also called for a reduction in Illinois taxes, specifically the state's gas taxes and property taxes, which are among the highest in the country.

"As we embark on a second term, my administration will be laser-focused on continuing to rebuild Illinois, an Illinois that works for everyone regardless of their background or the zip code that they live in," Pritzker said, ABC reported.
