At its Nov. 22 meeting, The Yorkville City Council heard from residents opposing drag shows at the Pinz Entertainment Center.

Resident Molly Krempski was one of several residents who expressed concerns over various aspects of the drag shows.

According to Shaw Local, in her remarks to council, Krempski said, “I care about the truth, I care about law and order and I care about the future of the community. I am motivated by service to God alone and God wants his justice and righteousness to flow in this city.”

Krempski has come to multiple city council meetings, starting as far back as August of 2022 when the Pinz Entertainment Center started hosting drag shows for patrons age 21 and up.

Krempski's supporters complained about how these types of shows would affect their children, citing their religious beliefs against them. They showed videos reportedly from these events that they felt showed their inappropriateness.

The residents claim that the mayor and city council were not upholding the law. They complained that the actions and clothing of performers in this type of performance were against city code and were unpunished violations.

The mayor and council made no comments in response to these complaints.

The council will meet again for the final time in 2022 at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 at City Hall on 800 Game Farm Road in Yorkville.
