Kendall County Children’s Advocacy Center Board met Nov. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. Call to order

II. Roll call- Present in person: Eric Weis, Jason Bastin and Brenda Karales

Present via ZOOM: Gene Morton, RaeAnn VanGundy, Phillip Smith, Mitch Hatton, Amanda Catheline, Alisa Neary

III. Approval of Agenda- Motion to approve agenda by Phillip Smith, seconded by Mitch Hattan, motion carried unanimously

IV. Approval of Minutes from November 19, 2019 meeting- Motion to approve minutes by Gene Morton, seconded by Jason Bastin, motion carried unanimously

V. Old business

a) The 2019 and 2020 stats were handed out and discussed. Brenda indicated we did 97 interviews in 2019 and 61 interviews so far in 2020

b) Discussion and evaluation of the implementation and effectiveness of the protocol was held (required under law on an annual basis). No changes were required. Motion to make no changes to current protocol by Jason Bastian, seconded by Mitch Hattan, motion carried unanimously

c) Proposal, if any, of appropriate modifications to the protocol to maximize its effectiveness. none

d) Statutory amendments effective January 1, 2020

1) 5 ILCS 140/7.5 (FOIA)

2) 55 ILCS 80/4.5 (Forensic interviews; electronic recordings)

Eric Weis reminded everyone to makes sure their FOIA officers do not give out interviews at the CAC.

e) Other – none

VI. New business

a) Covid protocol- Brenda explained the procedures that the CAC is still using and it is working well. She will continue sending out the protocol once an interview is set up.

b) What Law Enforcement Needs to Know About Forensic Interviewers Presenting Evidence during Forensic Interviews. Michelle Hawley found a good training that Brenda will be requiring any law enforcement investigator to watch prior to any interview involving child pornography.

c) The 2021 meeting schedule for the CAC Advisory Board is November 17, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. in the SAO. Motion to approve the 2021 meeting schedule by Jason Bastin, seconded by Mitch Hattan, motion carried unanimously
