State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) has introduced a legislative package aimed at assisting Illinois families. The Helping Households Bill Package includes six bills designed to alleviate burdens, reduce costs, and enhance access to essential services for residents of Illinois.

"We can’t just talk about promoting strong family values, we need to do the work to make life easier for everyone who wants to live, raise a family, and retire in Illinois," stated Rep. Davis. "Especially when it comes to our senior population, Illinois households are struggling to keep up under the ever-expanding cost of living. Let’s come together and pass common-sense legislation to help residents across the entire state."

The proposed bills include:

- House Bill 1092, which raises the Low-Income Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption threshold from $65,000 to $85,000.

- House Bill 1099 excludes immediate family living in a home for less than 12 months from being counted as household income under the Low-Income Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption.

- House Bill 1100 permits patients free access to electronic medical records.

- House Bill 1102 aims to improve access to cancer screenings.

Additionally, two more bills have yet to be filed:

- A bill proposing a freeze on property taxes for citizens with disabilities who require additional space for medical equipment such as wheelchairs.

- A bill intended to assist professionals working night shifts like firefighters, janitors, nurses, and police officers with child support issues arising from overnight calculations.

In summary, the Helping Households Bill Package seeks to expand healthcare access, lower living costs, and support working parents.

Helping Households is one of four legislative packages submitted by Rep. Davis in the 104th General Assembly.
