State Representative Jed Davis of Yorkville has put forward new legislative measures aimed at reducing regulatory burdens in Illinois. The proposed bills seek to limit excessive regulations, eliminate outdated rules, and require state agencies to address the costs associated with unfunded mandates affecting businesses and local governments.
Davis stated, "Illinois businesses, citizens, and local governments are drowning in regulations. These regulations are driving up costs and stifling growth." He emphasized the need for less bureaucratic interference to allow residents to thrive in a free-market economy. According to Davis, cutting unnecessary red tape would foster environments where both businesses and families could prosper, ultimately lowering the cost of living.
The legislative package includes three bills:
- House Bill 1650 aims to establish an ongoing review process for removing outdated regulations from the Illinois Administrative Code.
- House Bill 1937 seeks to cap the number of regulations on businesses and residents to prevent government overreach.
- House Bill 3668 requires state agencies to evaluate and mitigate the financial impact of new regulations before implementation.
"These bills are a step toward real regulatory reform, protecting taxpayers and restoring economic freedoms," said Davis. He called for a return of common sense in Springfield as he expressed concerns about government-driven cost increases.
The proposed measures form part of Rep. Davis' Preserving Freedoms Bill Package.
