State Representative Jed Davis has successfully sponsored two pieces of legislation that have passed the Illinois House of Representatives. The first, House Bill 3011, mandates that elected community college board members take an oath to uphold the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions when they are sworn into office. Davis explained, “House Bill 3011 aligns our community college board members with all other elected officials in Illinois by requiring an oath upholding the Constitution upon being sworn into office. This is a simple bill that ensures our American values are upheld in every elected position in Illinois.”

Moreover, Davis has taken a step towards reducing regulatory burden with House Bill 3356, which he co-sponsored. This bill aims to remove licensing barriers for those interested in traditional African hair braiding. Davis commented, “This bill removes unnecessary regulatory red tape currently preventing Illinoisans from pursuing a career braiding hair. It’s a win-win that reduces needless government bureaucracy and promotes careers.”

The two bills are now slated for further consideration by the Illinois Senate. Additional information about Representative Jed Davis can be found at RepJedDavis.com.
