The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has issued a response to a letter from House Republicans regarding their policy on female sports participation. The GOP letter requested how IHSA intends to comply with a federal order aimed at protecting women and girls in sports environments. The response was made nearly a month after the initial inquiry from the Republican representatives.

In addressing the response from IHSA, House Republicans expressed dissatisfaction, calling it "baffling and wrong." They emphasized that issues of fairness and safety in sports should not be driven by politics or debated. The statement insisted that policies involving same-sex sports and locker room use must be consistent with federal regulations to protect both the integrity of the competition and the well-being of student-athletes involved.

House Republicans have pledged ongoing efforts to uphold what they see as the integrity and safety of female athletic participants in the state of Illinois and insist on action from the IHSA in this regard.
