State Representative Jed Davis of Yorkville has voiced strong criticism following the passage of Illinois's FY26 budget. In a statement, Davis expressed his disapproval of both the content and the process by which the $55 billion budget was approved.

"Illinoisans should be absolutely appalled by the FY26 budget. Not just in content, but in the way this $55 billion budget was passed," said Davis. He highlighted concerns over limited review time and lack of Republican input, stating that it was passed "under the cover of darkness."

Davis criticized what he perceives as a lack of inclusivity and equity in the budgeting process, pointing out that many residents' needs were not represented. "The Democrats want to talk about inclusion and equity, well, what is equitable about preventing millions of Illinoisans from having their needs represented in the budget process?" he asked.

Furthermore, Davis condemned an included pay raise for legislators amidst financial struggles faced by families. "At a time when Illinois families can barely even afford groceries, increasing our own salaries is absolutely disgusting," he remarked.

Davis called for more transparent governance, emphasizing that citizens deserve ethical management of their tax dollars.
