Rep. Jed Davis recently provided updates on various activities and initiatives within Illinois' 75th District. In June, the district hosted its third annual Fishing Derby, which was organized with the help of several partners including the Illinois Conservation Police and the Wildlife Forever Organization.
A Property Tax Roundtable was also held in collaboration with Americans for Prosperity to address concerns over property taxes. Representatives from local governments such as Kendall County and the City of Plano participated in this discussion aimed at finding solutions to what Davis describes as a "broken property tax system."
Davis expressed concern over new taxes introduced in the FY26 budget, effective July 1st, which he attributes to Democratic policies. These taxes affect cigarettes, gas, parking, phone bills, ride shares, sports betting and video gaming, and streaming services. Davis opposed these measures citing a need for responsible budgeting.
The Child Abuse Notice Act has become law as of July 1st. This bipartisan legislation aims to provide assistance to children facing abuse or trafficking by offering clear information on how they can seek help.
Additionally, Rep. Davis announced his summer reading program for Kindergarteners through 5th graders who are encouraged to read eight books during their vacation. Participants will receive a certificate and a voucher for free ice cream upon completion.
For those interested in visiting museums in Chicagoland, Davis's office offers a free museum pass that allows admission for up to four people with prior reservation.
