Plano City Council met March 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The regular meeting of the Plano City Council was called to order on Monday, March 12, 2018 by Mayor Robert A. Hausler in the Council Room at City Hall. The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Roll Call:

Steve DeBolt Absent, Barb Nadeau Present, Ben Eaton Present, Jamal Williams Present, Bob Jones Present, Tommy Johns Present, Mike Rennels Present, Scott Mulliner Present

There was a quorum.

MINUTES:

A motion was made by Alderman Rennels, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on February 26, 2018. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.

Alderman DeBolt entered the meeting.

AGENDA:

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Jones, to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of March 12, 2018. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.

WARRANTS:

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Eaton, that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated March 12, 2018 in the amount of

$ 161,750.51.

Voting “Aye”: Rennels, Nadeau, Johns, Jones, Mulliner, Williams, Eaton, DeBolt

Voting “Nay”:

Absent:

Motion passed.

Alderman Rennels excused himself from the meeting.

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Jones, that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated March 13, 2018 in the amount of

$ 11,138.48.

Voting “Aye”: Nadeau, Johns, Jones, Mulliner, Williams, Eaton, DeBolt

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Rennels

Motion passed.

Alderman Rennels returned to the meeting.

WAGE REPORT: None

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:

Guests and members of the press were welcomed by Mayor Hausler.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS:

Mr. John Campbell informed the Council of a 5K run he is planning for April 8, 2018. He will get with Alderman Nadeau with details.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Bob Hausler

A motion was made by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to authorize the Mayor and Alderman Jones to sign a memorandum of understanding for the Sergeants to work 12 hour shifts.

Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Williams, to authorize the Mayor and Alderman Jones to sign a memorandum of understanding for the Patrol Officers to work 12 hour shifts.

PLANO AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Rich Healy

The 2nd annual bizz bunny hop will be on March 24, 2018 and the March madness bowling event will also be held on that day. Coffee & Connections will be held on March 15,

2018 at 8:00 am. The annual golf outing will be June 21, 2018.

CITY ATTORNEY: Tom Grant – Absent – Nothing to report

CITY CLERK: Kathleen Miller – Nothing to report

CITY TREASURER: Janet Goehst – Nothing to report

POLICE CHIEF’S REPORT: Chief Jonathan Whowell

The PD has submitted a grant application to Wal-Mart in the amount of $2500.00 to help fund Shop with a Cop. The annual Respect for Law Banquet will be held May 4, 2018 at 6:00 PM at Whitetail Ridge. May 18, 2018 from 5:00 am until noon will be Cop on Top at Dunkin Donuts. Chief Whowell met with Congressman Hultgren in efforts to secure a cops grant to assist with the budget.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS & WATER RECLAMATION REPORT: Darrin Boyer – Absent

WATER SUPERINTENDENT: Josh Beyer – Nothing to report

BUILDING, PLANNING & ZONING: Tom Karpus – Nothing to report

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ADMINISTRATIVE/HEALTH & SAFETY: Alderman MullinerAlderman Mulliner had a meeting March 6, 2018 at 6:00 to discuss transient business. A meeting was called for March 20, 2018 at 6:00 pm. Alderman Mulliner urged residents to sign up for Everbridge.

BUILDINGS, GROUNDS AND ZONING: Alderman DeBolt

Alderman DeBolt has a meeting on March 15, 2018 to discussed haunted houses.

A motion was made by Alderman DeBolt, seconded by Alderman Mulliner, to approve the Reliable phone service agreement.

Voting “Nay”: Jones

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Alderman Rennels

Alderman Rennels met on March 7, 2018 to discuss the budget. A meeting was called for April 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

FINANCE: Alderman Williams

Alderman Williams called a meeting for March 23, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

PARKS: Alderman Johns

Alderman Johns gave an update on the splash pad’ they should begin work on April 15, 2018 and should be completed by May 30, 2018.

PERSONNEL & INSURANCE: Alderman Jones

Alderman Jones has a meeting March 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm to discuss section 508 of the employee manual.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Nadeau

Alderman Nadeau has a meeting February 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM to further discuss the special events policy.

STREETS & UTILITIES: Alderman Eaton

Alderman Eaton has a meeting March 13, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS:

Jim Likeness informed the Council that the Polar Plunge will be held on March 4, 2018.

CLOSED SESSION: None

ADJOURNMENT:

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to adjourn. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:31 p.m.
