Deland Central Fire Protection District responded to nine calls in 2017 - 12.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Deland included six fires - five structure fires and one other fire.

In all, the department saw $15,000 in fire loss - or about $2,500 per fire.

The department also received three false calls.

The Deland Central Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $34,994 in 2017.
