Plano City Council met Sept. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Plano City Council was called to order on Monday September 10, 2018 by Mayor, Robert A. Hausler in the Council Room at City Hall. The Mayor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

There was a quorum.

MINUTES:

A motion was made by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on August 27, 2018. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard.

The motion passed.

AGENDA:

A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Williams, to approve the agenda for the regular meeting of September 10, 2018. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.

WARRANTS:

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Nadeau, that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated September 10, 2018 in the amount of $ 418,121.73

Roll Call:

Voting “Aye”: Mulliner, Eaton, Nadeau, Jones, Johns, Williams, DeBolt

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Rennels

Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Eaton, that orders are drawn on the Treasury to pay per warrant list dated September 11, 2018 in the amount of $ 10,915.36

Guests and members of the press were welcomed by the Mayor.

MAYOR’S REPORT: Bob Hausler

The Mayor announced that after discussion with Alderman Johns and City staff the Splash Pad will close for the season on September 24, 2018.

PLANO AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Rich Healy

Mr. Healy thanked everybody that participated in the golf outing. Treats on the Streets will be held on October 25, 2018.

ATTORNEY: Tom Grant

Approve Dedication Deed

A motion was made by Alderman Mulliner, seconded by Alderman DeBolt, to approve a dedication deed for parcels of real estate for use as a public street and for all uses associated therewith, to become part of the street or right of way for East Main St. section 15-00045-00-BR.

CITY CLERK: Kathleen Miller – Nothing to report

CITY TREASURER: Janet Goehst

The Treasurer distributed revenue and expense reports.

POLICE CHIEF’S REPORT: Chief Jonathan Whowell

Officers Arreola, Miller and Perez began week 3 of the Cook County Academy and are doing well. Officer Lopez passed the Power test for the academy and will begin at S.L.E.A. Academy on September 17, 2018. The Police Department will participate in Blue Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on September 30, 2018. The Police Department attended the grand opening of the Village Bible Church. Investigator Morton attended his mandated sexual assault training.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS & WATER RECLAMATION REPORT: Darrin Boyer – Absent –

WATER SUPERINTENDENT: Josh Beyer – Absent – Nothing to report

BUILDING, PLANNING & ZONING: Tom Karpus – Nothing to report

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

ADMINISTRATIVE/HEALTH & SAFETY: Alderman Mulliner

Alderman Mulliner had a meeting August 29, 2018 at 6:00 pm and discussed the Conservation Foundation and transient business.

BUILDINGS, GROUNDS AND ZONING: Alderman DeBolt – Nothing to report

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Alderman Rennels – Absent – Nothing to report

FINANCE: Alderman Williams

Alderman Williams called a meeting for September 24, 2018 at 5:30 p.m.

PARKS: Alderman Johns

Alderman Johns had a meeting August 29, 2018 at 7:00 PM and discussed the Eagle Scout project at DePaul Park, benches for the Parks and signs for the Splash Pad location.

A motion was made by Alderman Johns, seconded by Alderman Williams, to approve the Eagle Scout Project at DePaul Park in the amount of $ 1,650.00. The project consists of signage.

PERSONNEL & INSURANCE: Alderman Jones – Nothing to report

Alderman Jones made an announcement that tomorrow is Patriots Day and asked that we remember our Military.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Alderman Nadeau

Alderman Nadeau has a meeting scheduled for September 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

STREETS & UTILITIES: Alderman Eaton

Alderman Eaton and Alderman Williams are doing studies for traffic control in problem areas.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: None

CLOSED SESSION:

A motion was made by Alderman Jones, seconded by Alderman Eaton, to go into closed session under 2C-1 to discuss the employment of a specific person.

Voting “Aye”: Mulliner, Eaton, Nadeau, Jones, Johns, Williams, DeBolt

Voting “Nay”:

Absent: Rennels

Motion passed.

A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Jones, to return to open session. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed.

Attorney Grant commented that we went into closed session to discuss potential employment, no action was taken at this time, however, there will be an agenda item regarding this issue in the future.

ADJOURNMENT:

A motion was made by Alderman Eaton, seconded by Alderman Nadeau, to adjourn. A unanimous “Aye” voice vote was heard. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
