Q3 real estate sales report: Newark

Median prices rose in Newark over last year, and are down 5.5 percent over 10 years, adjusted for inflation, according to third quarter sales data collected by BlockShopper.com.

From July to September, 8 homes sold in Newark for a median price of $172,500. That's 6.2 percent higher than median home sale prices for the third quarter of 2017.

In the third quarter, there were no foreclosures in Newark.

Median property tax for homeowners in Newark was $3,986.93 in 2017 according to tax data from that year. That means homeowners pay 2.5 percent of their home's value in taxes.

Statewide, Illinois homeowners pay an effective property tax rate of 2.2 percent, according to a 2017 property tax analysis by ATTOM Data Solutions, ranking it second among U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
