Thomas McCullagh is once again campaigning for public office, this time for the position of state representative.
McCullagh said that he is running for the 97th district, where he has lived for eight years with his wife of 17 years and two children, in order to help establish a better environment for them to flourish.
"I decided to run because years of status quo was leading us nowhere," McCullagh told the Kendall County Times.
According to McCullagh, who previously ran for state senate in 2020, two of his goals would be to remove FOID cards and push forward legislation that would create affordable trade programs for high school students interested in non-college-based careers.
Following his 2020 state senate race, McCullagh has spent the last two years assisting local politicians with fundraising and campaign organization.
He has also assisted in the creation, organization, and promotion of a variety of what he described as patriot organizations, parent groups, and other civic groups focused on personal liberty.
Additionally, McCullagh formerly worked as a regional director for a multinational organization, where he was responsible for approximately $100 million in revenue and more than 5,000 employees; he currently works as a small business consultant.
In his spare time, McCullagh volunteers as the executive director of K9's for Veterans, an organization that utilizes dogs to help treat sexual trauma victims, and veterans and law enforcement officers suffering from PTSD.
He is also the executive director of the Forgotten Warrior Memorial in Channahon as well as the Forgotten Sons Charity, which supports homeless veterans.
