Jed Davis is touting his run for state representative in the newly drawn 75th District as a return to normalcy and the way things should be.
“I’m running for true local representation,” Davis said on his website. “Our representatives have hid behind closed doors and unanswered calls for nearly 2 years now. We need officials who will truly represent the people, walking shoulder to shoulder with them through their community, their employer, their school board, etc.”
Davis said he also plans to change the trend that now sees too many lawmakers in Springfield essentially disappear once they assume power and lose touch with the people that put them in office.
The Parkview Christian Academy board president, Davis vows that preserving the rights due to families and freedoms for all will be one of his top priorities. He also pledges to fight for a reduction in government, pointing out that at least 11,270 bills and resolutions were introduced by the 102nd General Assembly as of Feb. 1.
“Illinois doesn’t need more legislation,” he said. “It needs legislators who will simply say no.”
A fifth-generation resident of Kendall County, Davis has already shown he won’t be easily intimidated.
Back in 2020, he took a stand against Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s school mandates, resulting in the governor suing the school.
The following year, Parkview sued the Illinois State Board of Education over the ways they were “disciplining” schools for not following the governor’s executive orders. Parkview ultimately won a temporary restraining order against ISBE, fully reinstating its status with the state. The case is still pending in court.
“The foundations of our families and freedoms are under attack and we need to send fighters to Springfield to preserve them,” Davis said. “I led the charge as school board president of Parkview Christian Academy against JB Pritzker. We were one of only two schools who stood up during the 2020/2021 school year.”
