I'm a civil engineer, managing hundreds of millions in public improvements through the years with one major takeaway. Illinois consistently receives less work per dollar, meaning your tax dollars are being shortchanged.

You see, pricing fluctuates from commodity costs to inflationary constraints to labor shortages and these fluctuations hit week after week. Here's the issue...

90 to 120 days pass before the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) releases materials. We're talking 3 to 4 months, wow!

3 to 4 months of commodity costs, inflationary constraints, and labor shortages. 3 to 4 months of price fluctuations. 3 to 4 months of change orders and increased costs. 3 to 4 months of your tax dollars being shortchanged, resulting in less work per dollar.

IDOT needs to streamline their processes and systems so we the people get more bang for the buck. Bureaucracy is often our worse enemy as government moves like snails. I'm excited to bring my background and expertise to Springfield, working to streamline and stretch your dollar.

Jed Davis is a candidate for the 75th House District.
