James Marter, Oswego Village Board Trustee recently shared that he has no problem with allowing more apartments across the Village on Feb. 15.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Village trustees recently approved a resolution aiming for diversified housing. New developments are on the horizon.
They also approved revisions to a development agreement and rezoning for Tuscany Station. The development is set to include 13 three-story apartment buildings plus a commercial area on land that may include a future Metra commuter station in the village.
“While I understand some people have an objection to apartments, I don’t see a reason to even remotely put us in the threat of litigation costing the village hundreds of thousands of dollars and that’s just for the settlements,” Marter said.
The approval was made by a majority vote of trustees who aim to rezone.
Trustees recently voted 5-1 in favor of revisions to the development agreement and rezoning at the request of the current developer. Trustee Brian Thomas was the only board member to vote against the agreement.
Village President Troy Parlier is enthused by the new developments and is excited to see what they will do for the community.
"The Tuscany Station development will be outstanding for Oswego, including generating revenues for the school district, adding that the concept plan was originally approved in 2014 and the board has only made it better," Parlier.
