YORKVILLE - State Representative Jed Davis (R-Yorkville) has filed House Bill 4350 in an effort to combat child abuse and human trafficking. The bill, introduced on Human Trafficking Awareness Day, aims to raise awareness and provide resources to help victims.

Under the proposed legislation, various establishments such as schools, daycare centers, bus stations, airports, and more will be required to display signs detailing the signs of human trafficking and child abuse. Representative Davis explained the importance of these signs, stating, "Many children who are being abused or trafficked may not fully understand what is happening, or they may feel trapped in their situation. These signs will show them people are here to help."

The posted signs will not only provide information about what constitutes physical and sexual abuse but also offer resources and steps on how to report such incidents. By increasing awareness and knowledge, the hope is that more victims will come forward and receive the necessary support.

Representative Davis emphasized the significance of protecting children who are being trafficked and abused, stating, "There is always more to be done to help these victims, and if a poster saves one child from more trauma, I count it a huge win." He also expressed gratitude to Colleen Murphy, a constituent who brought this matter to his attention. Murphy is leading a national movement called My Body Tells The Truth (MBTTT), and Representative Davis is excited to partner with her and her team.
