A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 regarding emails and memos dated from the past year. The request, sent by Kendall County Times on January 28, 2025, specifically sought records containing the keywords "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study".

These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The requested documents are expected to shed light on discussions or decisions made within the school district related to "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". As a member of the media, we are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
