Oswego Community Unit School District 308 issued the following announcement on June 11.
Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education has approved Lindsay F. Allen, Ed.D., as the Director of Elementary Education, a position previously held by Dr. Melissa McDowell.
Dr. Allen has served as the principal at Southbury Elementary School in School District 308 since 2010. Prior to that, she was Southbury’s Assistant Principal from 2008-2010. Dr. Allen describes herself as a student-focused educational leader, possessing a passionate commitment to the growth of school administrators, staff and students, while providing an invigorating, safe and encouraging learning environment. “Dr. Allen’s experience at the building level, her expertise in the area of curriculum, combined with her exceptional collaborative and communication skills are a great fit for our Teaching and Learning Department,” said Dr. Lisa Smith, associate superintendent of educational services.
Dr. Allen has a Bachelor of Arts-French/TESOL, from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI; Initial Teaching Certification-Elementary Education, North Central College, Naperville, Illinois; Masters in Educational Leadership-Type 75 Certification, Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois; Masters of Education in Literacy, Judson University, Elgin, Illinois; Doctorate of Education in Literacy, Judson University, Elgin, Illinois.
A search is underway for a new principal at Southbury Elementary School.
