OSWEGO COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 308: Board of Education Approves Dr. Tammie Harmon as New Principal of The Wheatlands Elementary School

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 issued the following announcement on June 11.

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education has approved Dr. Tammie Harmon as the Principal of The Wheatlands Elementary School for the 2018/19 school year, replacing Jeffrey Gerard who held the position previously and has resigned.

Dr. Harmon has been with the district since 2015 and currently serves as the principal at Churchill Elementary School. She began her education/teaching career in 1998 as a student teacher in a third grade classroom in New Lenox, Illinois. She is a member of the Illinois Principals Association and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

“Dr. Harmon is a dynamic, student-centered principal who will offer a wealth of instructional experiences to The Wheatlands Elementary school staff and community,” said Dr. Lisa Smith associate superintendent of educational services. Dr. Harmon has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois; Master of Science in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois; and a Doctor of Education in Leadership in Educational Administration from Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois.

A search is underway for a new principal at Churchill Elementary School.
