OSWEGO COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 308: Board of Education Approves Lawrence P. Piatek, Jr., as New Principal of Churchill Elementary School

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 issued the following announcement on June 25.

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education has approved Lawrence P. Piatek, Jr., as the Principal of Churchill Elementary School for the 2018/19 school year, replacing Dr. Tammie Harmon who was transferred to Principal at The Wheatlands Elementary School.

Piatek currently serves as the principal at Orenic Intermediate School, Troy School District 30c, since 2013. Prior to that, he was an elementary school principal for five years in Lombard, Illinois. He began his education/teaching career in 1995 as a middle school social studies teacher. Piatek has received certifications in the following: Chief School Business Official, 75 Administrative/Supervisory Certificate, and 09 Grades 6-12 Social Studies.

“Larry is a diverse educator who utilizes best practices to lead his building. He is a strong communicator who works collaboratively with students, staff, and parents to make the best decisions for his school community,” said Dr. Lindsay Allen, Director of Elementary Education.

Piatek has a B.A. History from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana; Illinois Teacher Certification from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, Illinois; M.A. Educational Leadership from Aurora, Illinois; and M.S. School Business Administration from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.
