OSWEGO COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 308: Operation Care Package at Churchill

Donation

Oswego Community Unit School District 308 issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.

In conjunction with our Veterans Day celebration here at Churchill, we will be collecting items to help Operation Care Package make sure that “No Hero is Forgotten” this holiday season. Operation Care Package is a not-for-profit organization started by family members of soldiers currently serving in the military. Their goal is to send 10,000 care packages to soldiers who will be away from their families during the holidays. We would like to help them meet that goal.

Donation boxes will be placed right inside the front entrance of the school. Donations will be accepted from Monday, October 22 through Monday, November 12, 2018. Here is a list of suggested items that we would like each grade level to bring in (please feel free to contribute anything on the list even if it’s not your child’s grade level!):

Kindergarten: Canned fruit; hot chocolate or hot cider (packets); fruit snacks

First grade: Kool-Aid singles; instant oatmeal packets; popcorn balls/caramel corn

Second grade: Summer sausage, beef sticks or pepperoni sticks (6-12 oz. size);

cans of tuna, chicken or salmon; granola bars

Third grade: Slim Jims or beef jerky; batteries (AA or AAA); protein bars

Fourth grade: Cookies (small individual packs), coffee (singles-2 lb. bags or cans) hearty canned soups, ravioli, or stew

Fifth grade: Full-size chocolate bars or Kisses; trail mix, nuts
