ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 97: Batinick Serves as Principal for a Day in Aurora

State

Illinois State House District 97 issued the following announcement on Oct. 10.

State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) recently participated in Principal for a Day, a program sponsored by the Illinois Principals Association.

The IPA works with lawmakers to place them into schools in their legislative districts to see what it’s like being an active principal during a school day and help foster the relationship between lawmakers and educators. Representative Batinick served as the acting principal at Bednarcik Junior High School in Aurora. The Representative had a full day meeting with administrative professionals, talking with educators, and spending time with students. Batinick was especially impressed with the classroom instruction, and enjoyed sitting in on several different classes throughout the day.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with everyone at Bednarcik,” said Batinick. “From the faculty to the students, it was an incredibly welcoming experience. I was able to see first-hand the new technology being used in the classroom and the students’ successful engagement with it—and I am impressed! This school is a wonderful learning environment and I loved seeing both students and faculty genuinely happy to be there.”

The Principal for a Day program is a statewide initiative that has been in place since 2004. Representative Batinick is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the program and thanks all the teachers, students and administration at Bednarcik Junior High School for hosting him.
