State Sen. Jim Oberweis (R-Sugar Grove) argues Rep. Lauren Underwood’s (D-Illinois) ongoing silence on the state’s most pressing issues speak volumes about her brand of politics.

"Lauren Underwood is continuing her pattern of silence," Oberweis, who is running against Underwood in the 14th Congressional District, told the Kendall County Times. “She refuses to call out corruption in her own party and she refuses to stand up and defend the police. I have condemned the violence and urged federal involvement in stopping the riots in Chicago, but Lauren Underwood continues to be silent."

Everywhere he goes, Oberweis said voters want to talk about the situation and what can be done to make sure there isn’t a repeat.

"Where is Rep. Underwood?” he added. “How hard is it to condemn looting and rioting?”

Oberweis argues Underwood’s habit of swallowing her tongue also extends to the ongoing controversy now engulfing longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan and the sexual harassment scandal involving several members of Madigan's political organization, all while still taking campaign contributions from him for her Lauren Underwood Victory Fund.

"She seems to think that by taking the 'Hidin' like (Joe) Biden' approach to politics, no one will notice her radical agenda. She can't hide from being rated one of the most liberal and extreme matters of Congress. These are confusing times and what is needed is calm, thoughtful leadership, not the radicalism of Lauren Underwood and her friends."

Now in his seventh year of serving in the House, Oberweis’ 25th District includes a large portion of north central Kendall County, taking in sections of Yorkville, Oswego, Montgomery and Plano.
