After Joliet Junior College nursing students earned the best pass rate in the country for licensure exams, the students received accolades from a state legislator.

State Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) recognized the achievement in a March 21 Facebook post.

"Joliet Junior College continues to impress,” Rezin said. “Just another asset in our backyard. Keep up the amazing work!"

Joliet Junior College nursing students achieved a 96% first-time pass rate for the 2020 exams, scoring the best in the country.

Students in the practical nursing program had a perfect 100% pass rate for the NCLEX-PN exam in 2020. The national average for first-time pass rate in the country for the NCLEX-RN exam is 87%, putting students from JJC firmly ahead of the national average and further highlighting the excellence of the program.

Mary Beth Luna, chair of the Joliet Junior College nursing department, commented on the achievement in a press release.

“I’m so proud of our graduates who persevered despite the pandemic,” she said. “And I’m very proud and humbled to work with such exceptional and dedicated faculty and staff who worked tirelessly to maintain our high educational standards, even while putting the program online in a short period of time.”
