The Illinois Manufacturers' Association (IMA) is holding its annual Makers Madness contest. The public can vote on the "coolest thing made in Illinois" through March 20. The winner will be announced on April 27. This will be the third Makers Madness contest.
The winner will be featured on the IMA website, receive an award, and enjoy a company celebration with IMA.
"It's time for the Illinois Manufacturers' Association's annual Makers Madness Contest! Nominate a locally-made product from right here in the Fox Valley today for a chance for it to be named the 'coolest thing made in Illinois,'" Rep. Keith Wheeler (R-North Aurora) posted on Facebook.
Last year, more than 300 products were nominated for the Makers Madness contest. The winning product was the self-regulating traffic signal heater manufactured by Termico Technologies in Elk Grove Village.
The manufacturing industry accounted for more than 12% ($108.43 billion) of Illinois' gross state output in 2018, according to the National Association of Manufacturers.
